Catherine Keller: Love the very heart of the universe
It’s is so romanticed, trivialized and sentimentalized. But
at its heart it is such a radical and powerful idea: that God is love. And not
just that God loves. But that the power of connection is the very heart of the
universe. That seems pretty amazing to me. Because one could read the universe
as thooth and claws, a very different kind of place. But the message we’ve
received is: No, it is really about radical acts of intimacy. Across the
divides, across the boundaries. So what is love? Well, it certainly involves
the heart. And the heart is not just a metaphor.
